ITO Washi [FOR PREORDER ONLY]

ITO Washi follows the tradition of noble Japanese paper yarns with an extremely silky softness. The yarn has a good stitch definition and therefore also shows lace patterns nicely. The paper is twisted with a rayon thread which gives the necessary stability to garments and accessories.

Why You’ll Love It:
✔ Dual-Fiber Blend - Spun from 54% fine Japanese washi paper and 46% smooth rayon/viscose. It gives your fabric phenomenal tear resistance
✔ Thermal Intelligence - Much like mulberry silk, it actively cools the skin during hot summer days and traps warmth when winter hits.
✔ Crisp Definition - It yields an airy, beautifully structured stitch pattern that accentuates intricate lace shawls and delicate motifs.
✔ The Magic Block - It feels lightly crisp on the needles, but completely transforms into a fluid, cloud-soft fabric after its very first wet block.

Paper yarns have a lasting tradition in Japan. They are often compared to silk in their noble character and have similar properties to silk: Cooling in summer and warming in winter. Washi can be knit single stranded for lace and lightweight summer scarfs. For shirts and jackets we recommend to knit Washi double stranded or in combination with Niji or Asa.
