Every skein of LITLG Silk Merino 50/50 is hand-dyed in small batches in a studio in West Cork, Ireland, by Caroline, the founder behind Life in the Long Grass, using recipes she has refined over ten years. The colours come from the landscape around her, one stretch of the Atlantic coast, designed in families so that each shade still feels like it belongs to something, and every skein is checked before it leaves the studio, if it is not right, it simply does not go out.

Silk Merino 50/50 pairs equal parts superwash merino and silk, giving you a soft, silky hand with a lovely gloss and good drape, a step up from a straightforward merino base for anything you want to feel a little more special.

Why You’ll Love It

✔ Hand-dyed in small batches in West Cork, Ireland, with colours drawn from the Atlantic coastline
✔ 50% superwash merino, 50% silk, for softness with a genuine sheen and drape
✔ A fine fingering weight suited to socks, shawls and light layers
✔ Each skein checked by hand before it leaves the studio
✔ From a dyer with ten years of refining her own recipes, not a first attempt at a palette

Perfect For

Knitters after a fingering weight with real drape and a soft sheen rather than a plain matte finish, and anyone drawn to a dyer with a genuine sense of place behind her colours rather than a palette picked for trend. The silk content makes it especially nice for shawls and anything meant to catch the light, while still being fine enough for socks.

A yarn with a landscape behind every colourway, hand-dyed by someone who clearly will not let a skein out the door unless it is right.
