Pinta began life as a sock yarn, and it still makes a very good pair of socks. It just turned out to be capable of far more than that. It is one of those yarns that quietly ends up in everything, from socks to shawls to a light pullover you reach for again and again.

The reason sits in the blend. 60% extrafine merino gives it softness and stretch, 20% mulberry silk brings a gentle shine and smoothness, and 20% ramie gives it its backbone. Ramie is a plant fibre from the nettle family, long and notably tough, and it is what allows a fingering weight yarn this soft to stand up to being walked on. The merino is mulesing free and RWS certified, sourced from Patagonia, and the yarn is spun and dyed in Peru.

Wool that regulates temperature is a genuine advantage here. Pinta keeps you comfortable in warm weather rather than only in the cold, so a Pinta pullover is a wearable thing in Singapore as well as on a trip somewhere cooler. It is elastic, so it resists creasing, and it bends softly against the skin without a hint of itch.
