There is a particular kind of yarn you want when the weather does not cool down, and Nepal is it. 60% cotton and 40% linen, spun with a special twist that gives the yarn a natural texture you can feel as you work with it. It is light in the hand, easy to handle, and pleasant against the skin.

The two fibres do different jobs. Cotton keeps it breathable, so a Nepal top is comfortable to wear in the heat. Linen gives it its handle and its staying power, and garments made from it tend to hold their shape rather than stretching out, and they do not wear thin quickly. It is a plant based yarn throughout, spun and dyed in Italy, and the colours come out clear and lively.

Airy tops are the obvious place to start, though Nepal has enough warmth in it to work right through the year, which makes it a sensible choice for a light sweater or cardigan you can wear in an air conditioned office and then carry outside.
